What a hospital management system covers

At minimum an HMS should take a patient from registration to billing without re-keying anything. In iHospital365 that means:

Per-user, per-bed or flat per facility: how pricing models differ

Hospital software is generally licensed one of three ways. Per user or per doctor means the bill grows each time you add a consultant, a receptionist or a pharmacist. Per bed means it grows with your capacity, and often with your growth plan rather than your actual census. A flat price per facility keeps the bill fixed while staff and doctors change.

iHospital365 uses the third model: one annual price per facility with unlimited doctors and staff users. Whichever vendor you evaluate, ask for the total over three years at your expected headcount, not the first-year headline figure.

Questions to ask any vendor

Put these to every shortlisted vendor in writing.

• What is the all-in annual cost for my facility, including setup, migration and GST?
• Does the price change if I add doctors, users or beds?
• Are OPD, IPD, pharmacy and billing one system and one record, or separate products?
• Who supports my staff, in which languages, and how do I reach them?
• What happens to my data and my records if I leave?
